When the characters differ
- Check the active input language and keyboard layout in your system’s keyboard or language settings. Select the one that matches what you intend to type.
- Turn off Caps Lock and release Shift or AltGr, then try the same position again. An input method may produce characters only after composition finishes.
- If the position itself is missing, try the keyboard tester. For a detailed event, use the keycode inspector.
This compares the selected expected labels with browser input. It does not identify a keyboard model or every possible layout from a few keys. Keyboard sizes covers physical board geometry.
